Epos Now Switching Off Dojo Integration: What UK Merchants Need to Know
Updated April 2026. UK retailers and hospitality operators have been reporting since 2026 that Epos Now is switching off integrations with third-party card payment providers, with Dojo one of the most affected. Posts from payments consultants in industry Facebook groups confirm that Epos Now customers are losing the ability to send a transaction total from their till straight to a Dojo terminal — and are being pushed onto Epos Now's own card machines instead.
If your Epos Now and Dojo integration has stopped working, or you've been told it will be turned off, you are not alone. This page explains what is happening, why, and what your realistic options are as a UK business.
What is actually happening?
Epos Now is a Norwich-headquartered EPOS (electronic point of sale) provider used by tens of thousands of UK retail and hospitality businesses. Historically it has integrated with a long list of third-party card payment providers — including Dojo (and the legacy Paymentsense terminals on the same network), Worldpay, Barclaycard and others — so a sale rung up on the till would push the amount automatically to the card machine.
Over the last 18 months, multiple UK merchants and payments consultants have reported that Epos Now has been progressively removing or disabling those third-party integrations, particularly with Dojo. Merchants have described:
- The "send to terminal" function on Epos Now suddenly no longer working with their Dojo card machine.
- Being told by Epos Now sales or support that the Dojo integration is no longer supported on their plan.
- Being offered an Epos Now-branded terminal (such as the Epos Now Pro+) as the only integrated option going forward.
Why is Epos Now doing this?
Epos Now is a software company that has steadily moved into payments. As industry newsletter Business of Payments noted in March 2026, around 80% of Epos Now's revenue still comes from software subscriptions, compared with 33% at Lightspeed and just 15% at Toast. Payments is by far the biggest growth lever the business has — and the easiest way to capture more of it is to make Epos Now Payments the default (or only) integrated option.
That is a perfectly rational commercial strategy for Epos Now. It is less convenient for merchants who chose Dojo specifically for its hardware, support or pricing, and now find that choice quietly being taken away.
What it means for your business
If you currently use Epos Now + Dojo together and the integration is switched off, the practical day-to-day impact usually looks like this:
- Slower service at the till: staff have to read the total off the till and manually key it into the card machine.
- More mis-keyed amounts: a £42.30 charged as £4.23 (or £423.00) is a real problem in busy hospitality.
- Reconciliation pain: end-of-day Z reads no longer line up cleanly with the card machine settlement.
- Pressure to switch terminals: Epos Now's reps will typically offer to "fix" the issue by moving you onto an Epos Now card machine and Epos Now Payments contract.
Your realistic options
Option 1 — Accept Epos Now Payments
The path of least resistance. You'll get a fully integrated experience again, but on Epos Now's pricing and contract terms. Always ask for the rate card in writing and compare it against your current Dojo blended rate before agreeing.
Option 2 — Keep Dojo, run the terminal in standalone mode
You can keep your Dojo card machine and simply use it alongside (rather than integrated with) your Epos Now till. You lose automatic amount-send, but you keep Dojo's pricing, settlement speed and support. For lower-volume businesses the small workflow cost is often worth the saving.
Option 3 — Switch EPOS to a system that openly integrates with Dojo
Dojo publicly states it integrates with over 600 EPOS providers, including Lightspeed, Tevalis, Kobas, Shoptill-e and Software of Excellence (EXACT). If you'd rather change EPOS than change card processor, this is the cleanest long-term fix — especially if you've already had a poor experience with Epos Now.
Option 4 — Switch both
Some merchants take the opportunity to start fresh: a new EPOS system bundled with a different card payment provider entirely (for example Square, SumUp, Teya, Worldpay or Barclaycard). Use our free comparison tool to estimate monthly fees against your turnover before you sign anything.
What we'd recommend before you sign anything
- Get your current Epos Now and Dojo contract end dates and exit fee clauses in writing.
- Get any new offer (from Epos Now, Dojo, or anyone else) as a full rate card — not a verbal "from 1.x%".
- Calculate the all-in monthly cost (transaction fees + hardware + software + PCI + statement fees) for at least three options.
- Ask whether the new provider will contribute towards your exit fees — Dojo and several alternatives do this for switchers.
- Don't agree to a longer contract just to get the integration back; you may be solving a 2-year problem with a 5-year commitment.

Frequently asked questions
Is Epos Now really turning off the Dojo integration?
Yes. Multiple UK merchants and payments consultants have reported in 2025 and 2026 that Epos Now has been switching off integrations with third-party card payment providers, including Dojo. Affected businesses say their previously integrated Dojo terminal stopped talking to their Epos Now till, forcing them to either key amounts in manually or move to Epos Now's own card machines.
Why is Epos Now ending its Dojo integration?
Epos Now has been pushing its own in-house payments product (including the Epos Now Pro+ all-in-one terminal). According to Business of Payments (March 2026), around 80% of Epos Now revenue still comes from software subscriptions versus only 33% at Lightspeed and 15% at Toast — so payments is the obvious place to grow margin. Cutting third-party integrations like Dojo channels more merchants into Epos Now Payments.
Does Dojo still integrate with Epos Now at all?
Dojo's official help centre still lists Epos Now among the 600+ EPOS systems it can integrate with, and Dojo is actively onboarding merchants who want to keep their Epos Now till but switch their card machine. In practice, whether the integration keeps working long-term depends on Epos Now allowing it on your account.
What are my options if my Epos Now and Dojo integration has been switched off?
You generally have three routes: (1) accept Epos Now Payments and use their terminal, (2) keep Dojo and run the card machine in standalone (non-integrated) mode alongside your Epos Now till, or (3) switch EPOS provider to one that openly integrates with Dojo (Lightspeed, Tevalis, Kobas, Shoptill-e and others). Many merchants find option 2 or 3 cheaper than option 1.
Will I have to pay exit fees to leave Epos Now or Dojo?
Possibly. Both Epos Now and Dojo use term contracts. Dojo has historically offered to contribute towards exit fees from your existing provider when you switch to them — confirm this in writing before signing anything. Always read the cancellation clauses on both your current EPOS and card processing contracts.
